Okay all of you Cheap Trick & Hamer guitar fans…this is a very rare & very special ordered 1981 Hamer Special just like Rick Neilson made so famous. This is a very early serial #’d Les Paul styled Hamer w/a delicious slightly yellowed Black & White Checkerboard finish all over its body & neck. Records show 1 2839 was born White...I am sure all Specials like this were white prior to it being checkerboard'd in black. After speaking to several experts, this finish is so perfectly symmetrical it had to be factory applied & may have been taken from the line like Leo used to do to save money. Its 2 factory installed Dimarzio pickups are simply the best Rock & Roll set of its day. It also sports a set of Schaller tuners & black speed knobs. Rick Nelson was Hamer’s best client for many years & he alone put them on the map. These early 1st issue Special examples have exploded in value over the past few years. This is as early as they came. Having some definite playtime over its life, she still has that ultimate 80’s vibe & cannot be duplicated for any price today. It’s Excellent overall & comes in a nice hard case.
