Heritage / H575 / 1997 / Almond Sunburst / Guitar

The Blue Book says….

Instruments currently built in Kalamazoo, MI since 1984. The company was incorporated on April 1, 1985. The Lasar Music Corporation, located in Brentwood, TN is the exclusive sales and marketing company for Heritage Guitars, Inc.

The Gibson guitar company was founded in Kalamazoo in 1902. The young company continued to expand, and built production facilities at 225 Parsons Street (the first of a total of five buildings at that location) in 1917. In 1974, Gibson was acquired by the Norlin corporation, which also opened facilities the same year in Nashville, TN. However, financial troubles led Norlin to consider shutting down either the Kalamazoo or Nashville facilities in the early 1980s. Even though the Kalamazoo plant was Gibson’s home since 1917, the decision was made in July of 1983 by Norlin to close the plant. The doors at 225 Parsons Street closed in the fall of 1984.

Heritage Guitar, Inc. opened in 1985 in the original Gibson building. Rather than uproot and move to Tennessee, Jim Deurloo, Marvin Lamb, and J.P. Moats elected to leave the Gibson company, and stay in Kalamazoo to start a new guitar company. Members of the original trio were later joined by Bill Paige and Mike Korpak (other long time Gibson workers). Korpack left the Heritage company in 1985.

I say…..

Wow.

This is basically an ES 175 made by the guys who made the legendary ’50′s Gibson guitars.  The finish is designated ALM SB – which I’m guessing is Almond Sunburst.  The Neck has a little fretwear but nothing out of the ordinary for a 16 year old guitar.  The Schaller pickups give a great thick woody tone with a great top end “edge.”

The rosewood fingerboard is in good condition, and the rear of the neck has very few marks on its “wide-thin” D shaped neck, making playing is a dream.  The body is in great condition, it does have a few dinks but no real scratches, just acceptable “wear and tear”  for such an instrument.

There are some “stand damage” marks on the underside of the headstock – but nothing that affects playing.

Tone has that awesome bass thump so necessary for Jazz “comping”  but at the same time has a clear and articulate top end voice for solos.

Great.

Philip's Old Second Hand Guitars (POSH Guitars) Has arisen not only out of my indefatigable enthusiasm for all things wooden with strings, but also from my love of music and creativity.

I firmly believe in a Creator God , who in his creativity gave us a gift. That gift being music, and in our expression of music we give voice to our passion for God.

I am not a company, but I buy guitars of a high quality, use them for a while and then sell them on. Sometimes this allows me to make a small profit, and I shift that profit on into financing the supply of quality instruments for Christian Musicians who are actively working in a recognised Church fellowship.

In this regard I'm happy to announce that Harvey Gerlitz has allowed me to distribute his Guitar Care Products in the UK, and hopefully through these establish a finance base to expand this mission.

In addition to resourcing Christian worship and creativity, 10% of any profits will be automatically passed on to financing Christian work in Africa, building orphanages to care for the victims of the AIDS epidemic there.

All items purchased will be despatched within 24 hours of received payment. Postage in the UK is by First Class postage, outside the UK it's by Air Mail.
