Höfner / Hofner / 126 Club 50 / 1956 / Natural / Guitar
In the beginning, everything was Hofner Club. At least in the careers of many iconic British musicians like Lennon, Page or Gilmour, all Hofner Club users at one time or another. Gettin USA made guitars wasn’t easy at the time, so Hofners did the trick beautifully.
For starters, the Club 50’s shape is very similar to that of an LP, as well as the dimensions. But it’s a hollow guitar. So it’s a total featherweight! The sound of its single coil pickups is (thanks to the archtop build) one of the sweetest sounding you’ll ever encounter. Think of diabetic-coma sweet. A true shame that these guitars weren’t built by Gibson, because they’d most likely be worth tens of thousands today. They’re just home run guitars!
A very rare guitar, interesting, and increasing collectability year in year out, especially these cross-placed button models (two tone, two volume) and two treble/bass switches. Easy to play, no feedback, adapts easily to any style.
Has a thick neck (think of a 57 Les Paul). Very balanced, no neck diving. In very good condition despite the super thin factory lacquer coat, which exposes the wood considerably. It has very common playwear marks all over, but it has aged beautifully and this only proves the guitar has been desirable to play all these years. If it’s been played a lot, it’s usually for a reason!
The harp-style tailpiece isn’t the original one, but a very old replacement. Pickguard is missing. Both parts can be found as high-quality repros today, so it’s not really a big deal. It would actually improve a lot aesthetically with an added pickguard.
Includes a professional later case.
Hofner 126 Club 50’s are very rare finds today, so don’t let this one get away!
Guitar Giraffe, Spain
In the last few years, online sale for musical instruments has experienced an amazing growth, but has passed right through the pre-owned market (that is, in Spain), limiting it to specialised forums and private owners. This is why Guitar Giraffe was born, the first physical and online second hand guitar and amp store (we like to call it "pre-owned", since we see a big difference between both terms), with a clear commitment of giving new options to guitarists locally and worldwide. Pre-owned guitar stores, so common in UK and USA, were practically nonexistent in Spain. We’ve wanted to fill that empty space by becoming the first physical and online store in our country focused on pre-owned guitars and amps.
