Very Good condition, 7/10, super rare bass with vertical logo, flat back (used until 1962) and Cavern spaced pickups (late 56 until 1962) but what proves this is a 1957 is that this was the only year these came with 21 frets (55,56 and 58 had 20 frets, from 1959 22 frets), square control plate (started in 1957), no logo on body (started in 1957), pre truss rod (which came 1958), lots of small dents and wear in the finish, strip tuners (used until 1961), the pot date is 499 which means week 49 of 1959 (possibly replaced unless it shipped late?), mostly original parts, strap buttons on the heel and at the endblock, almost no wear on the frets, including original hardcase with green lining, light sunburst, 2 black pickups, original bridge and pickguard, of course a few stories:1:repaired neck heel (a hairline split fracture in the wood) 2: neck reset 3: one pot (dated week 49 year 1959) had to be replaced and we used a Hofner pot from 1965 that we had in our stash, the original is included in the case 4: the zero-fret was low so we installed a new fret, the original is included in the case 5: the tailpiece looks like it is not original to the bass as it does not have the badge that was used during this era 6: replaced button on D-string tuner 7: tone knob missing the metal insert 8: 2 non-original flat head screws for the control plate
