Paul McCartney brought the attention of the world to the Hofner Bass brand back in 1961 w/his 1st Violin Bass. Hofner made a bigger body bass made famous by Stu Sutcliffe, the Beatles 1st Bass Player. This cool ’64 President Bass was made during the boom period of the Beatles. Its Sunburst finish is worn but quite cool in all respects. It has a 5 piece “bound” maple neck w/a raised gold logo. It has 4 open back tuning machines w/cream buttons used only during this early 60’s period. Its body has a spruce top over a flamey maple back & sides. It has a pair of transitional pickups w/4 staple poles & 4 adjustable pole pieces. It also has the pre-1964 slimmer pickup surrounds w/side adjustment screws. It has a ton of body bindings & bound F-holes. It has 4 original white knobs & a factory long tailpiece. It is an exceptional player w/super low action. Other than a missing pickgard, she's in Excellent all original condition. It comes w/a nice padded gig bag.
