Paul McCartney & John Lennon brought the attention of the world to the Hofner brand back in 1961 w/Paul’s 1st Violin Bass & John’s Club guitar. Hofner made a bigger body Bass model called the President & this is the cool matching guitar. This cool ’64 President “Brunette” 2 was made during the boom period of the Beatles. Its Sunburst finish has slight wear but quite cool in all respects. It has a 5 piece “bound” maple neck w/a bound rosewood fingerboard w/a pretty Fleur-de-lis inlay. It has 6 open back tuning machines w/cream buttons used only during this early 60’s period. Its body has a spruce top over a flamey maple back & sides. It has a pair of transitional pickups w/6 staple poles & 6 adjustable pole pieces. It also has the pre-1964 slimmer pickup surrounds w/side adjustment screws. Its original tortoise’gard is still intact & quite clean. It has a ton of body bindings & bound F-holes. It has 4 original white knobs & a Bigsby Vibrato. It is an exceptional player w/super low action. Other than a small smiley shaped weather check just below its tuners, she’s Excellent overall all original condition & comes in its rare Tweed covered shape hard case.
