Kalamazoo / KG14 / 1937 / Guitar

Kalamazoo is known to every guitar enthusiast as the place where Gibson was born, as well as being the name of one of the brand's sub-brands for many years. Gibson used this name for a range of cheaper and more simply built instruments, of which this KG14 was also a part. From 1933 to 1942, the Kalamazoo name could be found on acoustic instruments, on which the name returned in the second half of the 1960s on a range of electric and bass guitars. The guitar has a body shape similar to the Gibson L00, and its compact size makes it really comfortable to play. The spruce top is supported by Ladder bracing, and this gives the guitar a bright sound with clear focus in the midrange. The guitar also features a very robust V-shaped neck, and this makes it ideally suited for fingerstyle. A real blues machine! The FON number on the heel block is 82 C, which means the guitar was built in 1937. Judging from the beautifully glossy Sunburst finish, it quickly became clear to us that this is a well-maintained guitar. The craquelé and playing marks of course subtly reveal its age, but the guitar is otherwise in beautiful condition. Two cracks on the top have been repaired in line with the neck, and a refret was once carried out in which the fingerboard was also flattened. The guitar is currently very well playable, but given the somewhat low bridge saddle and low frets, it might benefit from a compression-refret in the near future to lower the action a little. However, this Kalamazoo is simply a beautiful vintage guitar that has received a lot of attention from our own Fellows, but may now fly out for a new musical adventure! ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
