This is a very special build from a very special maker, Mr. Larry Higgins, of Higgins & Sons of San Francisco. Larry passed away many years ago & was famous for making Violins & other interesting guitars such as this beautiful Baroque guitar we have here. Its made w/a super wafer thin Cedar top w/an outstanding three-dimensional, tiered, “wedding cake” rose. Its back, sides & neck are made of the wildest selection of figured birdseye maple & Brazilian Rosewood & trim to die for. The Baroque guitars consists of Five double courses, 10 gut frets w/3 regular inlaid frets. Its got 10 wooden friction peg tuners & the back of its neck and pegbox have layers of different woods. Lastly its cone shaped heel is as stunning as its ebony “moustache” on both sides of its bridge. Impossible to figure what this handmade guitar would cost today, especially made by someone w/Larry Higgins talent. Its got a few small top cracks but overall its exceptionally clean & comes w/a non-original hard case for protection.
