Here we present a beautiful piece of Swedens' finest...

The fabled Levin LT-18.

Made circa 1965 as can be seen with the early style of Brazilian rosewood bridge. (the serial number on the label has faded yet we can be reasonably sure of the date)

The guitar is crack free, which in itself is seldom seen for an all solid wood guitar near to 60 years old!

So the overall condition is certainly above average.

As luthiers and restorers we can, know how to, and do, describe our guitars accurately and fairly, so you can trust the following to be true and worth considering before you buy this cool guitar.

- This guitar has been professionally maintained, prior to us and by us

- We have recently refurbished and setup the guitar to be optimum in all respects

- The guitar has had historic work done such as a bridge reset and a neck reset (the two most expensive works) the work being done to the highest standards and it is certain that 55+ years on most of these guitars will require this work if not already been attended to, not trying to sell this to you, because it sells itself, yet if you do buy a vintage Levin anywhere then the chances are that a bridge reset and neck reset will be due, average cost to do this is around £350, at least.

- The prior owner has installed a 'plate mate' type bridge plate protector, which is a thin brass plate that is (temporarily) attached to the underside of the bridge plate. This preserves the bridge plate by giving the ends of the strings something to anchor to, rather than pulling up on the bridge, and therefore preserves the guitar. This feature also improves intonation. There are various opinions to any effects on the tone, either good or bad and I won't be drawn into offering our opinion on that. This feature is easy to remove if preferred. 

- The overall condition is very good and above average with only weathering to the nitro lacquer as expected, and pictured, and by many, desired

- There is moderate buckle wear within the lacquer mainly on about 20% of the back board as exaggerated in the photo, this is usual as nitro lacquer is comparatively soft material 

- The Van Ghent Nickel tuners are original, solid and excellent

- The nut and saddle are later bone replacements

- There are no cracks, crack repairs or suchlike (this is very unusual for the model) 

- The headstock shape does not feature in the Levin catalogue of the year, there could be any reason for this including the possibility that it may have been reshaped at some point in its life, I mean, who's head doesn't get reshaped in this life! ;)

- Soundboard is spruce, back and sides are sycamore (maple) neck is Brazilian/South American mahogany, bridge is Brazilian rosewood, fretboard is ebony - top materials!

- Action has been set to factory recommendations 2.8mm and 2.3mm at 12th fret, so the guitar is very playable, there is a small amount of adjustment room on the nut and saddle

- Ships with the period correct hard case (which is a semi-rigid fibreboard case)

So all things considered this is an amazing example, priced fairly (just check what else is around) most people asking double this price, and player ready
