Lowden S-23 Special Order (new) Bastone Walnut & Western red Cedar, Case, COA

After several requests for a custom small Lowden S model, George said yes to making us a Walnut-Cedar S model, a S-23 last year, and today it arrived. Why did we request for it? Well actually for a simple reason, the combination Walnut and cedar is quite unique, and possibly the most typical Lowden that combines the beautiful warmth of cedar with the brightness and dynamics of walnut. To my idea the combination of tone qualities provided by this combination of tone-woods is best serving DADGAD and other drop tunings, without the tonal response getting muddy or weak. Since the S-23 isn't part of normal production we opted for it. This beautiful guitar is featuring beautifully grained Bastone walnut, and western red cedar, 5 piece mahogany-rosewood neck, ebony fingerboard and tropical rosewood bridge, 630mm scale length and 45.3mm nut width, Rosewood Headstock facia with Pearl Lowden logo, Gotoh 503 tuners with ebony buttons, beautiful wood purfling and soundhole inlay, of course bone nut and saddle come standard with every Lowden.  This is a very impressive guitar, small and handy,  very comfortable on your lap,  producing a balanced tone with great even response all over the string, a crisp bass complemented with shimmering overtones. You don't believe the power this guitar produces with a projection similar to a big guitar, the Typical cedar warmth and the bright warm overall character.
