Thanks also to the collaboration and the advice of a network of professional workers in the field, you can meet every need related to the guitar world.
M.O.V.Guitars is an acronym that origins from the initials of Master Luthier Restorer, Marco Omar Viola, who graduated in 1999 at the “Civica Scuola di Liuteria di Milano”, where he attended the “plucked instruments” construction course.
His passion for music, and guitar in particular, was born very early and soon he became enthusiastic about every technical aspect of the instrument, leading him to the decision of making it his profession.
During the years of his studies and after his graduation, he worked as a collaborator in different laboratories building and repairing all kinds of stringed instrument.
Born in 2008, M.O.V.Guitars established itself as a reference point for many players, but also for shops and distributors, which benefit from the quality of the service.
Viola
Viola is the brand of the instruments born within the M.O.V. Guitars laboratory that represent the best summary of Artisan Quality Made in ItalyViola is the result of experience and experimentation matured in the laboratory and on the stage over the years. An extensive work done in close collaboration with musicians and their needs.
The outmost care for details, the unique design and the beauty of the woods used, make each VIOLA instrument one of a kind.
Each instrument is designed and made by hand for those who make music, without being bounded by the limits of the machines used in large industries.
“Fortuity” does not exist in the realization of a Viola Instrument.
The selection of the wood is very strict. We select only the best wood and we work on them only after a slow natural aging. This is the only formula that guarantees the greatest reliability and stability.
The combinations of wood are always chosen (or suggested to the musician) according to the timbral result you want to achieve, just like the ingredients of a sophisticated cooking recipe!
Each Viola is entirely handmade: building principles are inspired by the methods implemented in the manufacturing of Classical stringed instruments.
Arcuatures on every Top and VIOLA boards, are made with gauges, planers and scrapers during the roughing phase, in order to understand the texture of the wood and to obtain its greatest resonant potential.
Each neck is made from a single wooden board, in a single piece or two pieces (scarf joint); manually operated using planers and files, until we get a perfect shape with no sharp edges.
The comfort and ergonomics of the neck are crucial for the performing artist. This is the reason why it is extremely important to feel comfortable while holding a neck designed to meet your specific needs.
The frets are placed on the fretboard by pressing and glueing them in their sections, so that they become a firm and steady part of the instrument.
Frets are then processed and adjusted with the greatest care and precision so that you will always get the best performance ever.
Every component reaches quality perfection.
Gotoh, Shaller, Grover or Sperzel Mechanics
Gotoh, Floyd Rose, Challam or Wilkinson Bridges
Handcrafted and hand-wrapped Pickups from the best brands on the market such as FlameTone, Lollar, VooDoo or DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan, etc.
Nuts are made from bone, graphite, fossil ivory (Mammoth) or synthetic.
Each musician holding a Viola Instrument is completely free to think only about their own music, while being assisted by an instrument capable of enhancing every single note.
