Martin / 0-18 / 1926 / Guitar
1926 Martin 0-18 12 fret, mahogany Adirondack, Hardcase, EC
We traded this guitar, and it arrived at the Fellowship last week. And it's a great one! The body and neck are in great shape despite an older refinish of back, sides and neck, and a re-varnish of the top. A beautiful yellowish extremely resonant varnish. Also the top seam was repaired, it had a neck reset and bridge and bridge plate were replaced, notorious for 90% of all Martin guitars after the 'lets shave the bridge first' postponement - then you need that neck reset after all. There is two superficial treble side cracks of which only one is visible from the outside. We didn't mention yet and otherwise it's crack-free. This late 20’s steel-string braced small body is a great instrument and once you start playing it you feel how special that old matured tone is. The intenseness slowly enters your brain, and the fun starts, 'good' in a reference to 'new' guitars is a understatement to start with. It’s one of the best sounding instruments and a tone description is simply impossible to put down in writing. If you want to know what 'open up' means, play a 70+ year old guitar, it's dynamically matured to a level were comparing is no longer possible. It's of course balanced and powerful, every single note is pronounced, the liveliness of the guitar is almost like a living thing in your hands. Some features: Honduras mahogany back/sides/neck, Adirondack spruce top, ebony fingerboard, 632mm (24.9") scale length, 46mm (1 13/16") nut width, slot head, original waverly 3 on a plate tuners, tonally it's a resonant monster, punchy when strummed, warm and rounded in a way only a vintage instrument can sound. Whatever style you choose it sounds great, we have it strung with a mix of 12's and 10's (012-047) and it's just great with a comfortable action and a rounded modified v neck. Bone pins and end pin that are newer. Newer solid case. These sell at top prices of around 9000-10000$, this is a players 'steal'.. !
The Fellowship Of Acoustics, Netherlands
ABOUT US
I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
