Martin / 00-17 / 1948 / Natural / Guitar For Sale

For sale is this very decently played-in but not abused early post war Martin 00-17 from 1948. The 00-17 was the largest and most expensive of the all-mahogany Martins of the 1940ies.

Everybody who picks up this wonderful guitar is surprised by its big sound ! It offers a distinct crisp ringing tone , which makes it very suited for fingerpicking. It responds also very well to open strumming with and without pick, making it a great singer-songwriter guitar !

Very good condition !

The tuners are vintage open gear Grovers from the 1950ies, who work well.

Beautiful mahogany top, back and sides covered by its original natural finish. There is only minimal playware on the top. The back has some -but not to much- buckle rash. There is a barely visible top crack below the bridge which has been expertly treated (cleated)

Straight mahogany neck topped with a unbound RW fretboard with newer frets. The guitar also had a neck reset. So the playability is excellent !

Small straight original rosewood bridge. The through-cut saddle has room left over for future adjustments.

Original tortoise pickguard.

Original small maple bridge plate. The original braces look fine.

Travels in a vintage, non original, hard shell case with green interior plush lining and mojo ++
