Martin / 00-21 / 1964 / Natural / Guitar

This is a very special and rare to see item, especially over here in the UK - This has been in the same family from new and is now on consignement with me from the daughter of the original owner who sadly passed away earlier this year. It is a  STUNNING 100% original, crack free and near MINT 1964 Martin 00-21 acoustic guitar with original receipt, hang tag, cancelled checks and beautiful original hard case it is a superb sounding guitar and I doubt if you will find a finer example on the planet.

According to the consigner, this was bought by her mum in 1964 when she fancied her chances as a folk singer in the LA folk club scene. Martin 00-21’s were one of the stable guitars of the 60’s US folk movement and were seen in the hands of many influential trubadours of the time. Soon after, plans for that career were shelved when she met her English husband and after a bit of persuasion decided to swap the sunny Californian valleys for a rural life in Wales. Sadly she passed away this year and her daughter came to me to help sell her wonderful heirloom.

When I first opened it's near mint case I could hardly beleive my eyes. I do not think I have ever seen such a nice 1964 Martin, let alone one with Brazilian rosewood and all the tags, receipts and cheques that form part of the history of this wonderful guitar. Whats more it plays perfectly, it does not in any way need a neck reset, there is no bellying of the bridge and even the original pickguard is intact and warp free. There is no fret wear, the action is superb and the sound from the beautiful spruce top and amazing Brazilian rosewood back and sides is sweet, succulent and so seductive...

It really is a beautiful sounding small body Martin and has the classic Martin sound together with a lovely soft C shape neck that is so comfortable. Bridge has not been shaved and I do really think you are going to have a big struggle on your hands to find better. Even the case is near mint like the guitar and is the rarely seen black, small croc skin type covering Martin used in the early 60’s with the red, plush interior.

No cracks anythere, a few small dings, mainly clear coat, but not many. I have tried to show them all on the photos but like me, you will struggle to find them - you do have to have a good look to find anything wrong with this example.

Never have I seen a nicer 60’s 00-21 especially with all the tags, case etc. I think it will be some time before I see another and the condition of this beautiful guitar is a testiment to the care of the original owner.

100% original in every way. Nothing changed, no repairs, all original finish. What more could you wish for..!
