Martin / 000-28 / 1944 / Natural / Guitar

This is a SUPERB vintage original with no cracks, 1944 Martin Brazillian Rosewood 000-28 that has all the most desirable appointments you would ever want on a vintage Martin - Brazilian rosewood, scalloped bracing, snowflake inlays and herringbone trim. It doesn’t get much better...
I recently acquired this amazing guitar on consignement from a chap who has owned this beauty for over 20 years. 10 years ago, due to wear, not damage, he decided to send it to one of the best vintage Martin luthiers in the world to refinish the top and give it a re-fret. The person who did this work is the same person you would send your $100k plus OM-45 to and he did a brillaint job as you would expect. The top has now mellowed to a nice honey colour and it is difficult to tell it has been refinished at all. It is also a rare to see, crack free vintage Martin.
Back, sides, neck and headstock all have original 1944 finish intact.
As you can see by the pictures, it has been played, there are dings and marks all over - it is not a museam piece, it is a guitar that has been played and loved and sounds like it too. However, it has never been abused or repaired anywhere which in itself is very rare for an 000-28 of this age. There is  very little fret or fingerboard wear and the action is good. As you can see from the photos, the Brazillian rosewood is fantastic, chocolate coloured grain and you hardly ever see a back like this, that old, without a repaired crack somewhere.
Tone of this amazing instrument is pretty much beyond reproach, it is classic, vintage Brazillian rosewood 71 year old Martin tone - you will struggle to find finer and if you are a finger picker you will be in heaven… Action is good and there is still room for adjustment on the saddle. It does not need a neck reset in my opinion.
During the war time, there were shortages for some metals hence you see original war time Martins like this with no string ferrouls and plastic tuner buttons. Finish also has the correct 1944 Martin hue. Serial number is 89076 which dates to 1944. Case is non original modern Martin type hard case which will protoect it well.
Lifes too short to pass this one up… you know you want one :-)
