Martin / 0018 Spruce Mahogany / 1951 / Guitar

This particular Martin 00-18 has a lovely, dry, loud, and woody character coupled with an impressive dynamic range. This guitar thrives in a variety of playing styles, but it truly shines when played with fingers if you ask me, producing a warm and intimate tone that captivates the listener. Even when strummed loudly it maintains its composure though, never reaching a breaking point, making it a versatile companion for any musical endeavour. Over the years, this vintage beauty has seen a few repairs to preserve its integrity and enhance its performance. Notably, it has had several crack repairs near the end pin, performed long ago and not as neatly as we would do it ourselves. It is however, structurally sound. A neck reset was also completed at some point in its history, ensuring optimal playability. More recently, one of our skilled luthiers, Adrian Farmer, meticulously crafted an entirely new bridge, saddle, and bridge plate for this guitar. Adrian's expertise extended to repairing the infamous pickguard crack, a common issue in vintage Martins. The 1951 Martin 00-18 retains its original charm with a few scars that tell the story of its journey through the decades. Its body, crafted from premium tonewoods, continues to resonate with a depth and clarity that only time can impart. The solid spruce top and mahogany back and sides contribute to its distinctive sound profile, delivering a well-balanced and articulate tone that is both powerful and nuanced. This guitar is more than just an instrument; it is a piece of musical history, ready to inspire a new generation of musicians. Its exceptional craftsmanship, combined with the careful restoration work, ensures that it plays as beautifully as it did over seventy years ago. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
