Martin / D-18 1958 / 1958 / Guitar
1958 Martin D-18, Mahogany-Spruce, Case, EC
1958 Martin D-18 Serial # 164290. It looks battered and bruised on first sight, but looking closer the guitar turns out to be in excellent condition despite the leftovers of two torn down pickguards taking on one side a part of the finish, and on the other side leaving glue residue. Obviously she has been used as a lefty. Still all original finish, and completely crack-free. And does exactly that what you expect from a 1958 D-18. This is how a good 1950's D-18 sounds like, amazing, it's Loud, warm, strong and punchy, and sounds 'vintage dry' like good old wine. This D-18 features a Sitka top that looks like wide grain Red spruce Adirondack, and mahogany back and sides, Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and bridge, cut-through-saddle, tortoise celluloid bindings, original Kluson tuners, bone nut and original saddle. It's in great shape with no cracks which is considering the cosmetic wear almost weird. It did have a neck-set a good number of years ago, but it kept the original bridge that is still on full height, there are no repairs on this guitar. The fretboard bears original frets that are played of quite a bit, but still capable of handling a number of years. Playability is excellent and low, with lots of meat on the saddle for further adjustment, The bridge is close to full thickness and has only been sanded slightly on the treble side, indicating it's been used as a lefty for quite a while. a strap button has been removed from the treble side neck heel, we have one in stock for you. 43mm (1 11/16") nut width, 645mm (25.4") scale length, 56mm (2 3/16") string-spacing. Despite her -on first sight battered looks- actually a rarely seen excellent condition guitar. The guitar travels in a 1970's Martin case.
The Fellowship Of Acoustics, Netherlands
ABOUT US
I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
