The redesigned Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 brings back the sought-after features of the original, with Madagascar Rosewood back & sides in place of Brazilian. The torrefied Adirondack Spruce soundboard (Martin's new "Vintage Tone System") features forward-shifted scalloped bracing (brace wood is also Adirondack Spruce) in Martin's "Authentic" pattern, for an extremely lively response whether fingerpicked or flatpicked. The neck is full-feeling, with a perfect amount of mass and a very faithful 1937-style soft V shape. The voice of the guitar is rich and powerful, with excellent projection and sparkle in the high end. Throttling bass response and the kind of snap we all associate with the revered pre-war herringbones.
