One of Martin’s best vintage models have always been their limited production 12-Fret D-28S models that started production way back in 1933. In 1971, Martin made this low production D-28 S w/its 12-fret neck set & its extended body dimensions mated to a wide 1-piece Mahogany neck w/a square shaped Slotted Peghead design. Its dreadnaught size has a 50 year old aged lacquer finish over a Sitka Spruce Top sporting some stunning Indian Rosewood on its back and sides w/a fabulous colorful striped wood selection. Its Ebony fingerboard has “Dot” inlays w/a matching ebony bridge. Its multi-laminated black & white body binding on this 12-fret is gorgeous & its original clear lacquered black’gard finishes it off so nicely. It’s equipped w/an impressive pickup system added that’s incredible. This 1st batch of 70’s “S” models were an extension of the superior instruments from the 50’s & 60’s that are now getting very scarce & hard to find. Martin made them on & off again in years to follow but the early 70’s were as hip as the last produced in 1969 w/Brazilian panels. She’s truly near mint & comes in a Black molded hard case.
