Martin / D-45 / 1993 / Natural / Guitar For Sale

C. F. Martin D-45 Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1993), serial number 530654, natural lacquer finish, spruce top, rosewood back & sides, mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard and bridge.

This is a very nice and clean example of Martins classic top-of-the-line guitar, the D-45.

This elaborate showpiece Dreadnought had been discontinued at the onset of WWII and revived due to public demand in 1969. It has always been a deluxe and expensive instrument and it remains Martins top-line stock model. In any era these splendid pearl-trimmed Dreadnoughts always represent the best of what Martin has to offer.

With a lovely tight-grained Sitka spruce top and straight-grained Indian rosewood back and sides, this is a beautiful guitar, even discounting the superlative pearl trim on every edge. In this period the braces were scalloped on this model as a standard feature. This is a very fine instrument and a showpiece in both looks and sound.

Overall this is a very, very clean crack-free instrument, without signs of wear. It is hard to believe this guitar is over 30 years old! So it is for sure a well-cared-for guitar. The original frets show some very light wear. The action is OK (2,5 mm at the low and high E strings at the 12th fret) and we believe the saddle is at its original height so there is a lot of room to lower it in the future.

The guitar is all original besides a newer pickguard.

It is an excellent player with a warm sound and plenty of depth and punch, with 30+ years of ageing.

The guitar resides in a newer HSC.
