This is a fabulous 1988 Martin D-45 Custom Shop. The extras include rosewood veneer headstock with tree of life inlay, tree of life on the fretboard, and tree of life on the inlay on the bridge. It has ebony buttons on gold Martin tuners. The sound is absolutely superlative - it is better than ANY Brazilian Martin, Colllings, Gibson, Taylor, Goodall etc. that I have ever played, and the action is perfect. Appears to be 5/16" forward shifted, and the neck is low profile. The nut is 1 3/4" for a slender lefthand feel. The bridge pins are ebony with pearl inserts. The Indian rosewood sides and back, and the spruce (probably Sitka) top are very fine grained and of the highest quality. Black (inlaid!) pickguard; Not only does this Martin benefit originally from all of the original Abalone trim along the top, sides, back, and heel–this beauty is originally adorned with a sprawling Tree of Life vine along the fingerboard, a motif that continues onto the bridge and even across the pickguard.
