Martin / D12-35 Brazilian Rosewood 12 String / 1969 / Guitar

Martin D12-35 12 string with Serial 251420, dating it to early 1969. This beautiful 51 year old 12 string D35 is very well preserved. The 12 string D35 featured 3-piece Brazilian rosewood back, and brazilian rosewood sides, sitka spruce top, multiple bound body, bound ebony fingerboard on mahogany neck, ebony bridge, multiple style 28 rosette, mahogany neck with slotted headstock and brazilian rosewood peghead overlay, with 6-on-a-plate original tuning machines, original celluloid black pickguard. This guitar plays like a good 12 string should, with low action and meat on the saddle left. It is very clean except for a piece of binding that is reglued, probably from a fall on the binding edge that resulted in two almost invisible and very well repaired cracks. Otherwise the guitar has no other issues, except the bridge seems to be replaced at some point for a correct replica ebony bridge. It only shows because the ebony is somewhat striped which is not common for Martin guitars of this era. The neck doesn't seem to have been reset, if it is, it's one of the cleanest every jobs i've seen. There is some weather checking and playwear but very litte, the overall impression is of an exceptional clean 51 year old guitar. The only real flaw is the two small cracks and binding issue, it doesn't even have a pickguard crack.  Action is about 2.4mm against 1.8mm at the 12th fret, and it plays like a dream. With the short scale of 632mm (24.9 inch) and a nut width of 47.8mm (1 7/8 inch) and a matching string spacing of 60mm (2 3/8 inch) it's a very easy to play guitar as well. Installed is a ultrapure mini system pickup with preamp in the soundhole. Only in 1972 Martin guitars came standard with a case (for most of the models), hence this one also comes with a non factory case.  Specifications Body Shape: Dreadnought 12-fret 12 string slope shoulder Finish: Natural/original Body Material: Solid Brazilian rosewood with 3-piece back with CITES certificate Top Material: Solid Spruce Lefty No Body Details: Multi layered black/whtie bindings and rosette, original black pickguard  Neck Material: Mahogany Neck Profile: C-shape Fingerboard Material: Ebony Fingerboard Radius: 16” Neck Details: Dot inlays Nutwidth: 47.8 mm - 1 7/8" Scale Length: 632 mm - 24.9" String spacing: 60 mm - 2 3/8" Bridge: Ebony (replacement, original bridgeplate) Tuners: 6-on-a-plate Waverly tuners Pickup K&K Ultra pure mini Condition: Good Cosmetic Condition: Lovely and clean for it's age with 2 repaired cracks, and reglued binding, retouched at the binding Modifications/ Repairs: None Tech Notes: None Travels in: Later TKL case Accessories: None

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
