Martin / D18 / 1956 / Guitar For Sale

The Martin D18 is a guitar that can undoubtedly be called one of the absolute classics in the guitar world. Over the years, the specifications of this guitar have changed regularly, but the 1950s were a relatively quiet period for 18-style and that is why this D18 from 1956 still has many features that have been found on the D18 since the late 1940s! Praised for its versatility and with a characteristic sound, this guitar is one of the greatest sources of inspiration in the guitar world. Since 1956, this Martin D18 has developed impressively and the result is a great sounding guitar; very dry, direct and warm. The original lacquer has been beautifully polished to a beautiful shine, and this gives the guitar a stunning appearance! The guitar has a body and neck made of mahogany, while the top of Sitka spruce gives the guitar a familiar sound. A tortoise binding adorns the body on both the front and back. The fingerboard and bridge are made of rosewood, the latter has a new saddle and new bridge pins. The maple bridge plate has also been repaired, and some braces have been re-glued. The guitar was also once equipped with a pickup, but this system has been removed. Furthermore, this D18 has collected playwear and dings over the years, a sign that the guitar has been well used! Some minor repairs have been made to the top, as well as to the sound box and the binding. Nevertheless, the guitar looks exceptionally good for an instrument that is almost 70 years old, and is without a doubt ready for a new musical adventure!

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
