Martin / D18 / 1958 / Guitar

1958 Martin D-18 Serial # 164290. The D-18 shows the almighty dreadnought in one of it's most coveted forms using mahogany for the back and sides and Sitka spruce for the top. This model was designed to have no frills and is all about pure, powerful, warm tone. Certainly after all those years the sound of this guitar is best described as "vintage dry", matured like a great vintage wine. These years have also left their marks on the finish of this guitar but surprisingly it is mostly crack-free. Two lines on the side look they might be cracks but no evidence of any glue on the inside of the guitar can be found, there's one small patch on the top upper bout bass side. The entire top finish shows overspray and evidence of two previously installed pickguards. The original bridge with long saddle has been slightly shaved down and the bridge-plate is still original. Original closed back Kluson single line tuners with oval buttons. There's plenty of room left on the saddle thanks to the neck reset which has been done some years ago and the frets, which are also newer, have plenty of room left on them and look clean. The neck is a firm Soft-V shaped specimen which is a joy to play with 43mm (1 11/16") nutwidth. For me this is a great guitar to have around in the office during breaks, but I'm afraid it won't be long until it finds a new owner. Too bad for me but probably better for overall productivity! Included is a period-correct hardshell case. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
