Martin / D18 / 1966 / Guitar

Martin D18 from 1966 which is a particularly nice vintage Martin and completely original and crack free. Between say 1947 and 1965 Martin changed almost nothing to the D18, but around 1966 they started with small changes, like the body binding that was changed from tortoise to black. The mighty D18 already lost the long saddle in 1965, in favor of the drop in saddle. However, she still has the tortoise pickguard, the T-bar, and the maple bridge plate that weren't changed until 1967 and 1968. So what we are looking at here, is a guitar that is largely the same guitar as the D18s that were build in 1947. This very gentle and clean D18 has charismatic weatherchecking throughout but besides that it has wear that almost doesn't suit an almost 55 year old guitar, because she is so clean. The bridge and pickguard have not been replaced, the frets also seem original and they are in good condition. With original finish throughout, original Grover patent tuners, good action, but it could use a neck reset in the near future. It has a comfortable soft V to C neck, that might be considered firm, with a slightly wider 43.7 mm or 1 3/4" nut width and an older case, that is certainly not original. How do old Martin D18s sound? Well, what can i say? Anyone who ever played one, wants one.   Specifications Body Shape: Dreadnought Finish: Natural Dimensions: Lower bout : 39,8 cm - 15.67" Depth        : 12,5 cm - 4.92" Body Material: Solid Sitka Spruce Top Material: Solid Mahogany Handedness: Right-handed Body Details: Original Tortoise Pickguard, Multi-Line Purfling, Black Body Bindings, Multi-Ring Rosette Neck Material: Mahogany Neck Profile: Soft V-Shape Fingerboard Material: Rosewood Fingerboard Radius: 16" Neck Details: Pearl Dot Inlay, Rosewood Headstock Overlay Nutwidth: 44 mm - 1 47/64" Scale Length: 640 mm - 25.2" String spacing: 54,4 mm - 2 9/64" Bridge: Rosewood Tuners: Grover Patent Pending Pickup: None Condition: Excellent Cosmetic Condition: Weatherchecking on top and back. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
