Martin / D28 Rosewood Spruce / 1974 / Guitar

Known for its booming projection and tone, the Martin D28 has been one of the most renowned and trusted models played by guitarists worldwide since its introduction in 1931. Professional musicians choose the Martin D28 for its powerful bass response, large volume, and impressive dynamics. The dreadnought body produces a beautifully balanced tone, with the powerful bass being what most people love about these guitars. In the 1970s, the Brazilian rosewood soundboard was replaced with Indian rosewood, which, combined with the Sitka spruce top, ensures a full and balanced sound. This D28 from 1974 beautifully showcases the large, full sound of the mighty dreadnought. It has everything you would expect from a vintage D28: it sounds impressively broken-in and looks beautifully aged with its fine craquelure. The downside of the beautiful sound of this D28 is that it has accumulated quite a few playing marks over the years, which is, of course, not surprising after more than half a century! It has a repaired crack in the top near the center seam and a pickguard crack. It also had a headstock crack that has been carefully repaired. It has undergone a refret, a neck reset, and has a new saddle, allowing it to play fantastically again! I always get excited when I receive a well-used vintage D28 on my desk to describe. You almost always know that it will be another magically sounding Martin, and this was certainly the case this time as well! Beautiful craquelure and that magical, full vintage Martin sound—what more could you want in a dreadnought?!

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
