Martin / D28E Brazilian Rosewood Spruce / 1959 / Guitar

The 1959 Martin D28E is an extremely rare and unique instrument that holds a special place in the history of acoustic guitars. The model combines the legendary quality and construction of Martin's D28 with electrical amplification technology, something quite unusual at the time. The guitar retains many features of the D28, such as the solid Sitka spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and a mahogany neck, all of which contribute to the guitar's rich, balanced tone. What makes the D28E unique is the addition of two DeArmond pickups built into the top of the guitar, allowing the acoustic tone to be used electrically amplified without losing the original character. These pickups are controlled via volume controls and tone knobs, providing flexibility in adjusting the amplified tone. Despite these modern additions, the guitar retains the classic aesthetic of the standard D28. The 1959 D28E is extremely rare because Martin only produced a limited number of these models; from 1959 to 1964 only 284 units were built! Electric acoustic guitars were not yet widespread, and Martin's experiment with this hybrid model was short-lived. The demand for vintage Martin guitars has always been high due to their build quality, historical significance and tone. This 1959 Martin D28E is an exceptional instrument that combines traditional Martin acoustic quality with early electrical technology. Its unique construction and rarity make it a coveted item for collectors and musicians alike, and an important part of guitar making history. The guitar bears the marks of several decades of guitar playing, and it is fascinating to think of the stages on which this guitar has been. The body has several repaired cracks on both the sides and the back, and on the heel a crack has been repaired where a strap button was once installed. Furthermore, there are traces of play and weather checking that are to be expected with an instrument from the 1950s. With its original electronics, bridge, pickguard and tuners, this D28E is a special guitar for collectors and musicians who want to own a piece of guitar history! Consignment. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
