2018 C.F. Martin D-45 John Mayer SN: 2175619 #9/45
Back in 2018, Martin entered into a collaboration with the world-renowned songwriter, John Mayer, to make 45 guitars of their absolute top model, namely the D-45.
Every D-45 is special and a testament to Martin's supreme knowledge of tone and acoustic guitars, but this one is an extraordinary masterpiece.
After testing different combinations of spruce and rosewood, Martin, in collaboration with John Mayer, ended up using Engelmann spruce for the top and Guatemalan rosewood for the back and sides. It should be mentioned that this is the first time that Martin has chosen to use Guatemala rosewood in the back and sides of a D-45!
The bracing is a forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing made from both Engelmann and Sitka spruce.
The neck profile is a V-neck Full Thickness and in addition, it has all the beautiful details and ornamentation that characterize the 45 series.
The guitar has been very well looked after during its lifetime and is therefore in good condition with minimal wear. It has a single larger scratch from an impact, located on the lower part of the tire.
