Martin / HD-28 Herringbone Reissue / 1986 / Indian Rosewood / Guitar

The HD-28 is a favorite of ours that’s consistently wonderful year after year in all respects. Its stunning Sitka Spruce top is just about perfect showing no wear nor weather checking. Its very colorful & quite grainy Indian Rosewood back & sides are blemish free also free from checking. Its got most all Martins best features including its Standard X-Scalloped bracing, Bold Herringbone inlay, Style 28 rosette, a Tortoiseshell pickgard, HD Zig-Zag purfling, 25.4″ scale length, Select Hardwood Mahogany neck w/Low Profile & an adjustable truss rod, Solid Ebony fingerboard w/20 frets and Style 28 inlays w/a 1 11/16″ nut width, Compensated Bone saddle, Solid Ebony Belly-style bridge & perfect Chrome Enclosed tuners with large buttons. After nearly a century at the helm as the quintessential workhorse of music legends like Hank Williams, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, and so many more, Martin’s legendary D-28 had been lovingly and artfully enhanced when released starting in 1976. “The post WWII D-28 had a slightly different look than its predecessor and became the centerpiece of the folk and folk rock movements at their pinnacle in the 1950s and 1960s.” says Chris Martin, Chairman and CEO of Martin Guitar, “We have extracted the finest features from the D-28 of both my grandfather’s and my father’s respective eras.” This example was bought new in 1986 at Modern Music in Ft.Lauderdale for a novice player hoping to learn & gather talent over the last 35 years. Well it was hardly used ever as it was left in its hard case safe from the elements. Today it’s still looks like a 2 month old guitar having no wear evident other than slight pick marks on its pickgard. Otherwise it is truly Near Mint having only aged in color & in its overall tone quality. Its still got most all of its original case candy w/an unfilled out Warranty Statement w/factory envelope, owners manual w/serial # & its original case key all in its original black molded hard case.
