McGreevy / OM Quilted Honduras Mahogany Swiss Moon Spruce / Guitar

Just below Belfast, Northern Ireland and not to far away from several other well known Northern Irish builders resides the workshop of Donal McGreevy. From a young age Donal's interest for Music and Woodworking was apparent. It was only natural then that, after having finished Lagan Lutherie School, he should start building instruments from his own workshop. And not unlike those other well known Irish builders his instruments are detailed to perfection. But unlinke most Northern Irish makers the character of a McGreevy is much more versatile, and playing it reminds as well to Goodall, Collings as Lowden guitars. Perfect for fingerstyle and alternate tunings but equally good for strumming and plectrum.  Donal McGreevy only makes a small number of guitars each year which allows him  to select the very best materials available and ensure the highest level of craftmanship and attention to detail. This time also allows him to develop carefully considered designs which are at the one hand innovative and refreshing, but also feel familiar and traditional. The McGreevy OM is a design he has been refining over the past 5 years in the pursuit of what has to be the perfect mid-size guitar. The result is a very well-balanced guitar with excellent volume and projection. He aimed for the right mix of fundamentals and overtones for the best possible note separation while keeping a certain richness, especially in the low registers. The design is versatile and can accommodate a wide variety of playing styles from strumming to flatpicking but is -as mentioned before- exceptionally well suited for melodic fingerstyle and alternate tuning. This specific instrument uses a beautiful set of Honduran mahogany for the back and sides coupled with an exceptionally beautiful piece of spruce from the Swiss Alps that was harvested during the full moon, which therefore deserves to be called Moon Spruce. This is the same wood that is also used for Stradivarius violins. Furthermore, the body is decorated with various striking details such as the ebony body binding and a Honduran mahogany rosette. To guarantee the safety of this delicate instrument, a Hiscox case is included. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
