Modulus / VJ-4 Jazz Bass ** ON HOLD ** / 2000 / Sunburst / Bass

I know that all you bass players know that Modulus is no more. Who knows what happened- maybe Geoff Gould (the owner of said company) lost the company in a game of poker like the Paleo Indians lost Staten island to the settlers for a couple of guns and a case of Jack Daniels (well, Paleo Indians were shrewd negotiators). Who knows what happened is exactly my point, but that is not the story here. Do you guys have any idea just on how many guitars and basses Ray and I go through a year? The exact number eludes me, but it's a bunch. With that being said, it is rare occasion when my short, yet talented business partner feels compelled to actually play one of these low end offerings we put on our site. Who knows what he's thinking; Ray's like a cockeyed cat and when spoken to, you never know if he's looking at you or someone else but yesterday, he picked up this bass, plugged it straight into his SWR bass rig and did what we all do when inspired: He payed homage to the Rock immortals. Folks, he has been here since the inception of the company (he isn't just a hired gun like a guitarist in Whitesnake); He is the Gene Simmons of the Elk world, so when I tell you that the act of playing a bass in the middle of the day is rare, look for poop behind the rocking horse. Ray just laid out the bass lines to "Sweet Emotion" and the bass sounded like a well- tuned piano. Took me back to high school just hearing it and the bass transformed Ray back to a time when he remembered why he picked up a bass in the first place. As a guitarist myself, I understand when those ghosts find you. Now I can't tell y'all the specs on this bass-  I can't even tell you the scale length, but I sure can tell you the smile this bass brought to my boy when through him, the immortals came to call. If you know what I'm talking about, then that's what is called "being in the moment." It's also about remembrance, because this is our life. Glad to be here- how 'bout you?
