Thijs van der Harst is one of my countryman i admire for the wonderful guitars he makes. Over here he is considered a renowned Dutch luthier who makes guitars in the Selmer-Maccaferri tradition, and like the previously advertised Jean Pierre Favino Jazz style nylon, Thijs also likes Nylon Jazz guitars. This Jazz nylon guitar is based on a petite bouche Selmer-Maccaferri as well, and it's quite a rare guitar although lately getting more populair for their unique tonal qualities. The guitar features a solid European spruce top, and solid east Indian rosewood back and sides, a wonderful sounding and traditional combination where the rosewood provides extra dynamics to the somewhat brighter sounding European spruce top, creating depth and a wide range of overtones. European spruce is well known for it's fingerstyle qualities and often the choice for makers of classical guitars. The Harmonic complexity and fullness at the low end, european spruce is also well known for it's quick response and greater headroom compared to other types of spruce. This guitar features a one piece mahogany neck where the head is -all in European tradition- glued on to the neck providing better sustain. Other features include ebony fingerboard, and a traditional gypsy style ebony bridge - but equipped with a bone saddle, and bone nut, the tailpiece is like on the Favino a wonderful design and made of ebony with what i think is a spalt maple centerpiece, the slotted headstock is overlaid with ebony, and bearing the Thijs van der Harst brandname 'Moustache' logo. The body is bound in rosewood binding and it shows maple-rosewood multiple purfling. Also the soundhole is made of rosewood-maple purfling, 50mm width at the nut, and 58mm fingerspacing at the current saddle, 650mm Scale length. This guitar is very suitable for Jazz and Bossa Nova style music and is in like new condition. The Guitar comes with case and 1 year TFOA warranty!
