National / 1155 / 1957 / Natural / Guitar For Sale
This guitar is a fairly rare but beautiful mixture of 2 iconic guitar brands : National and Gibson. National is best known for its resonator guitars but also made other acoustic guitars.
At the time this guitar was built (1957), there was a cooperation between the National and Gibson company (under the name CMI: Chicago Musical Industry company). Gibson made the J-50 dreadnaught type bodies for National, of which this guitar is a nice example. There is a Gibson FON number on the neck block dating the guitar to 1957.
Tonally, the guitar is what one would expect from a J-50 from the 50ies: well balanced, rich bass register with excellent string-to-string clarity and a powerful punchy sound.
Visually, the guitar has lots of vintage charm and charisma!
The cool head stock has the original Kluson Deluxe tuners with creme colored buttons.
Straight mahogany neck with RW fretboard. The action is comfortable and the frets are in good condition.
Bolt-on neck, making it easy to adjust if it's needed in the future.
Original finish - the guitar blacklights OK
The body is a Gibson J-50 body with a spruce top and mahogany back and sides. Glued back crack (back, lower bout) which is stable.
Original pickguard
Original RW bridge and bridgeplate.
Comes with an excellent newer hard shell case.
