National Reso-phonic Guitars / Style 1 Trione / 2003 / Nickel Silver / Guitar
Fantastic NRP Style 1 Tricone guitar. Upgraded with top of the line Waverly ivoroid tuners and a Flatbucker (http://www.flatbucker.com/index.php/en/flatbucker-en) pickup, specially wound and calibrated for this particular type of resonator guitar. Sound and playability are both absolutely top-notch. The instrument is a fingerpicker and bottleneck enthusiasts dream, and has been featured on several recordings and tours.
The guitar is in top functional condition, and is suitably patinated as much-loved instruments often are. There is some slight dimming of the finish on the upper bout, where the arm rests, and some small dings and scratches on the finish under the picking area. The neck and fingerboard are almost as new, with some finish checking on the top backside of the headstock. The modifications include the upgraded tuners. The pickup is profesionally installed with double sided tape, a small hole has been drilled for the cable through the top underneath and for the output jack, located on the lower side bout. This is standard practise, and it does not diminish the acoustic properties of the instrument in any way. The amplified sound is lively and rich, and very much suited to electric playing via a tube amp. It still sounds like a tricone resonator.
A very special guitar for the slide and fingerpicking enthusiast. Currently set up with John Pearse nickel strings gauged 16-59, but can be setup with medium gauge strings (12-52) for standard tuning as well with brilliant results.
