Paul Reed Smith Guitars / Custom 24 10 Top / 1990 / Vintage Yellow / Guitar For Sale
Stunning 1990 PRS Custom 24 anyone?
Putting Paul Reed Smith on the map, the Custom body shape has come to define PRS Guitars for many and set the benchmark for builders the world over. Though the combination of maple, mahogany and rosewood is no new thing in solid body guitar design, its the sheer attention to detail that set these instruments apart and assured them a seat at the pantheon of guitar tone.
There is no doubt this guitar is a killer and is one of the earlier ones made at the first PRS facility in Annapolis. Two piece flamed maple top under a vintage yellow finish, accentuated by the deep gloss, gives this guitar a classy yet understated look. This guitar show some signs of use with some buckle rash on the back and a few knocks to the edges of the body but nothing that really detracts from the overall look.
The neck as with the body is in excellent shape, the Brazilian rosewood fretboard is mark free with plenty of life left in the original frets.
The hardware does show signs of use as would be expected though there is no pitting or corrosion.
Electronically everything is correct and unaltered and has the volume, the 5 way pickup with and the 'sweet' switch.
The guitar comes with its correct fitted hardshell case.
There is no doubt from the moment you pick up this guitar that PRS got it right at the beginning. The medium C neck is comfortable in the hand making playing an effortless experience. The five way rotary switch might not be everyone's first choice but yields some interesting tonal options and lets you get on with the business of making music.
From the dawn of a new age in guitar building, this guitar is a no brainer for anyone looking for that vintage PRS tone and look.
