Paul Reed Smith Prs / GM Z06 Corvette Ltd. Run / 2006 / Velocity Yellow / Guitar

This racy little speedster is an homage to America’s first and greatest sports car, the Chevrolet Corvette. It’s based on the PRS Standard 22 but features a Corvette banner below the bridge, the same finishes found on production model Corvettes and a standard “427” logo inlay on the neck or an optional Z06 inlay. The body of the Corvette is all mahogany, which was chosen for its musical midrange tonal qualities. Compared to the Standard 24, the shorter neck of the Standard 22 further contributes to its warmth. Dragon II pickups with nickel silver covers and volume and tone control with 5-way rotary pickup selector complete this classic guitar package. The Corvette neck has a 25″ scale length and is carved in a wide-fat profile with a rosewood fingerboard. Available hardware is a a PRS stoptail bridge with PRS tremolo optional, and PRS 14:1 Phase II low mass locking tuners. This Velocity Yellow example is near mint in all respects & comes w/its original hang tag, case candy in its original hard case.

Back in 2005, PRS Guitars joined forces with CorvetteRacing.com. The PRS name appeared on the new C6.R racecar during the 2005 race season, and PRS would craft a custom designed Corvette Z06 guitar. The guitars became available last year. But like many things in the blogosphere, old news can become new again, and so here we are talking about the PRS Corvette Standard 22. From the PRS Guitar Website:

The new Z06 Corvette is based on the C6 which came to market as an ’05model. The Z06 is loaded with a modern small block 427 cubic inch engine which is rated at 500 rear wheel horsepower giving the car an awesome combination of power and luxury. The Corvette Standard 22 is available in the same six colors that will be offered on the 2006 Z06. The guitar is also offered with two inlay configurations, 427 logo on the fretboard and an optional Z06 logo inlaid on the fretboard. The trademark crossed flags and clear control knobs on the body round out the theme. The guitars should start shipping slightly ahead of their automotive counterparts.

The guitars are available in Corvette colors including Black, Daytona Sunset Orange, Le Mans Blue, Machine Silver, Velocity Yellow and Victory Red. Retail price is $4,700.
