Recording King By Gibson / Ray Whitley 1028 / 1939 / Sunburst / Guitar

Recording King Ray Whitley by Gibson, Model 1028, FON EW-1666, 1939, exc-

Adirondack red spruce/mahogany. Rare Gibson model made for Montgomery Ward. Basically a J-35 with some special appointments/design features. This early example features 3 non-scalloped tonebars and like other Whitleys a non-adjustable metal neck rod. Otherwise this guitar has regular J-35 features including the narrow bridge while the larger batwing J-55 style bridge is seen more often. Some minor repaired surface hairline cracks to the back and sides, otherwise crack free and in a superb and original condition, just great. Soundwise it surely is among the best J-35s and 1028 Whitleys in existence. Hc. On consignment.

Adirondack Fichte/Mahagoni. Hc. Im Kundenauftrag.

Through building their own guitars in the style of traditional American steel string guitars and through specializing in the restoration and repair of American pre-war instruments, they realized how similar these guitars were to the traditional German guitars in construction and materials.

Their new Tuebingen workshop opened in 1996. As aficionados of old American guitars, they have been creating many replicas of these wonderful instruments, authentic not only in their looks, but also in design and construction.

In addition to that, Blazer & Henkes are also specialists for the creation of modern guitar design, delicate pearl inlays as well as for restoration and repair work of vintage guitars.

Also, you will usually find an exquisite selection of vintage instruments in their shop.
