Rick Turner / RS6 / 1999 / Guitar

Rick Turner has a long and respectable track record in the music industry. He co-founded Alembic Inc in 1969 and was involved in the design and construction of the Alembic instruments. He founded Rick Turner Guitars in 1979 and joined Gibson in 1988 where he served as president of Gibson Labs West Coast R&D Division. Turner left Gibson in 1992 and ran a guitar repair shop at Westwood Music in Los Angeles where he developed piezo pickup designs, working with Jackson Browne, David Crosby and others. He later co-founded Highlander Musical Audio, manufacturer of piezo pickups for acoustic guitars. He continues to design and build guitars for many professional players including Lindsey Buckingham, Ry Cooder, David Lindley, David Crosby and Andy Summers.  It's from his hand that come these Renaissance instruments. Using technology that essentially amounts to a military submarine's passive sonar array, Rick set out to produce a guitar that sounded more acoustic when amplified than any true acoustic ever could. Along the way, he also stumbled upon a couple of techniques that allowed him to slash labor costs dramatically and offer Renaissance hand-built masterfully-crafted guitars and basses at a price point one might expect for mass-produced instruments. These guitars reproduce full-frequency acoustic tone for recording and performances. The thinline body is built like a fine acoustic guitar, but with an added mahogany center block to cut feedback. A Turner piezo bridge pickup feeds full-spectrum signals to an 18-volt D-TAR pre-amp. This RS-6 steelstring version vrom 1999 features a rosewood body with cedar top, maple neck, tortoise headstock overlay and vintage style tuners. The instrument is in excellent condition with several small dings on the top. Includes gigbag. 650mm (25 9/16") scale length, 43mm (1 11/16") nutwidth, 54mm (2 1/8") string spacing.

ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
