Rickenbacker / 331/12 LS Lightshow / 1971 / Jetglo / Guitar
This piece being offered was owned by the late Jim Ellison of Material Issue (Chicago, IL). We are honored to be able to list several pieces from his extensive collection.
Ref# 00584: November of 1971 Rickenbacker 12 String Light show, model 331/12 LS with Original Hardshell Case. Roger McGuinn of The Byrds owns the only other 331/12 LS apparently in existence! There is mention of these being produced in small numbers, but an accurate estimation was never documented. This Light Show is CLEAN and fully functioning. Its possibly the rarity of this piece is what is so appealing about it. It should be in a museum!! Condition is excellent for being near 50 years old, and play-ability is rather nice as well. When this baby is plugged in and giving a true show it's hard not to shed a small tear of pure joy! Beneath its swirly translucent top there are red. yellow and blue lights which "Flash" on and off when you play the guitar. These lights are frequency-sensitive, the reds for the highs, yellow for mid and blue for low frequencies. The lights are powered by a separate transformer (included) which plugs into it's own input on the guitar. The controls are that of a standard Rickenbacker with one special knob near the trapeze tailpiece which allows you to blend the colors to one's liking. Weighs a modest weight of 8 Lbs 7 oz. Nut width is 1.640". For more information on this piece, please call or email us.
