This rare Nov-1980 built 4001s model is distinct due to its lack of binding on the body and dot markers on the neck. However, this one has an additional rare feature of a set neck, which was standard on the single pickup 4000 basses since late 1972 but rarely seen on the two pickup 4001 model.
The high hot pickup add a bigger tonal flexibility, greater bass response and more overall punchy sound. A little known fact is that this bass was originally designed for use with flat-wound strings.
Features on this ‘80’ model include maple body, maple neck with Padouk fingerboard, dot inlays, two pickups, separate volume and tone controls, mono-output, truss rods adjust at head.
This bass has been lovingly cherished and played and has been fully serviced with the correct neck relief and set to Rickenbacker’ s optimum playability settings with the original Schaller machine heads returned to their original (right side up positions) with the two very tiny screw holes, per unit, restored and blended by our independent luthier.

By purchasing online or offline from ‘WTB’ you are entering into and agreeing to the following contractual agreement, also known as our Terms and Conditions. Note that these T&C’s may also hereby be referred to as ‘this contract’, ‘document’, ‘agreement’, ‘terms of use’ or ‘terms’ below.
By using our web-shop and/or purchasing our products, goods, items or services, you confirm that you accept these T&C’s in full and that you agree to comply with them at all times. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
‘WTB’ shall use its best endeavours to describe all products, goods, items and services as fully as possible, to the best of its knowledge, providing but not limited to: (i) as much history, (ii) age and detail as is known at that time, (iii) a full description of any discernible attributes, defects or faults. with high-quality photographs that presents each product, item, goods or service, as accurately as possible. It is the buyer’s responsibility to carefully review all photographs and images provided by ‘WTB’ as they form part of the description. Buyer can request additional photographs and images to ensure the condition and presentation of their selected product, item, goods or service is satisfactory for their personal requirements before finalising their purchase and making payment. All sales are final. No returns.
CARE FOR YOUR INSTRUMENT
‘WTB’ recommends that you always keep your valuable instrument in a case when transporting or storing it.
No environmental condition can do more damage to your vintage instrument than low relative humidity (RH). Many areas of the world experience naturally low humidity all year long. However, low RH levels accompany the onslaught of winter, mostly due to the effects of artificially heating our homes and buildings. The colder months wreak havoc on guitars made of solid wood. As the weather turns wet and temperatures fall, there is a natural tendency to crank up indoor heating units. Unfortunately, what many don’t realise is that heating a room forces the relative humidity down to a level that poses a real threat to vintage guitars by literally drying them out. The bottom line regarding dryness is that if your guitar is not kept within a comfortable range of 45-55 percent relative humidity, it will be in danger of cracking. OEM’s and WTB strongly recommend the use of a guitar humidifier, along with a digital hygrometer to accurately measure the humidity level where you store your guitar.
The good news is that your vintage guitar can be protected from many environmental changes simply by storing it in its case, which will help protect the guitar and slow down the ravages of low humidity. If it does become too dry, both its moisture content and its shape can be restored by exposing it to humidity. Localised changes in humidity that can have a; direct or indirect, effect on the wood combinations used in the manufacture of the guitar both cosmetically and structurally is not considered by the ‘OEM’ or ‘CCG’ as a defect of the instrument.
Perspiration can damage the finish on your vintage instrument. Always wipe down your vintage instrument after playing or before storing with a clean soft cloth. Polishing with a high quality instrument cleaner/polish or a good quality carnauba wax will prolong the durability of the factory applied finish.
All ‘WTB’ instruments are professionally setup to the Original Equipment Manufacturer (‘OEM’) published recommended string height (action) to ensure the ‘OEM's’ optimum playability setting for that instrument. Instruments maybe subject to environmental changes during transit, which may result in the string action requiring adjustment to return the instrument to the OEM specification. This is not considered by the ‘OEM’ and ‘WTB’ as a defect of the instrument,
On occasion, lower than the ‘OEM’ manufactures standard instrument settings are desired by the buyer (player). This can often result in 'buzz' or 'rattle'. This is caused by the strings vibrating against the frets or pickups. Buzz or Rattle caused by lower than ‘OEM’ optimum playability setting (action) is not consider by the ‘OEM’ or ‘WTB’ as a defect of the instrument.
All guitar necks are subject to great stress as a result of string tension, humidity or changes in climate, i.e. during transit, which may result occasionally in the guitar neck requiring adjustment in conjunction with adjusting the sting height action to ensure the ‘OEM's’ instrument optimum playability setting. This periodic adjust should only be performed by a qualified repairer, as over adjustment can result in damage to the instrument. Periodic truss rod adjustment is not considered by the ‘OEM’ or ‘WTB’ as a defect of the instrument.
Untreated Rosewood and Ebony fingerboards can be affected during transit and acclimatising to new surroundings by external sources such as changes in humidity and climate, which occasionally can result in localised fishers appearing in the fingerboard wood grain. Do not be alarmed as these can be easily remedied by the regular application of a good quality fretboard oil and/or exposure to moisture. This will ensure that your fingerboard is kept in tip-top condition. Always follow the manufacturers recommend application instructions. If in doubt consult a professional qualified and competent Luthier. The OEM and WTB recommends that your vintage instrument is kept away from direct or indirect sources of heat and is kept in its case to protect it from local humidity changes that could affect it cosmetically and from a playability position. A case hygrometer is highly recommended along with a regular inspection of the instrument. Localised changes in weather, climate or humidity, or the periodic cleaning/maintaining and applications of treatments that can have a; direct or indirect, effect on Rosewood or Ebony fingerboard woods is not considered by the ‘OEM’ or ‘WTB’ as a defect of the instrument.

1. is defined as the delivery of the product, items or goods to the buyer’s United Kingdom mainland, registered address, free of the nominated couriers published freight (shipping) charge.
2. Any additional local taxes or charges; that maybe levied by the United Kingdom Government, or the devolved Governments of Wales and Scotland, from time to time, shall be buyer’s responsibility and are not included in the product, item or goods purchase price or nominated couriers published freight (shipping) charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
3. It is the buyer’s responsibility to check with their country of residence customs office to determine what (if any) additional costs will be, prior to making their purchase.

TITLE OF GOODS
WTB retains full title to all product, items, goods and services supplied until paid for in full by the buyer.
COMPLAINTS
We want you to enjoy your purchase, however, if you have any complaint about a product or service provided, please e-mail us at chasingclassicguitars@gmail.com. We will treat your complaint fairly and confidentially, and we will endeavour to respond to all complaints within five working days.
FAULTS
i) General notes:
Faulty products – in the event of your product, item, goods or service developing a fault within the warranty period (if applicable) please email us at chasingclassicguitars@gmail.com. As part of diagnosing the fault ‘WTB’ shall request the buyer to send detailed pictures and/or videos, with a written detailed description of the faults, via email that will assists ‘WTB’ to determine the fault (if any). This process must be followed in order for the buyers reported faulty product, item, goods or service to be dealt with effectively and in a timely manner. If ‘WTB’ determine that the product, item or goods has to be returned for repair, ‘WTB’ shall provide the buyer with a return authorisation reference number. It shall be the buyer’s responsibility to ensure the product. item or goods is well packed and returned via insured courier. WTB reserves the right to refuse any product, items or goods returned from the buyer without authorisation or incorrectly/insufficiently packed. Upon acceptance and receipt of the authorised returned product, item or goods ‘WTB’ shall undertake a detailed review of the product, item or goods against the photo images and written description provided by the buyer and shall advise the buyer within 5 working days of any further actions required. If no fault is found (see additional notes on interpretational issues) ‘WTB’ shall contact the buyer in writing for further instructions regarding returning the product, item or goods to the buyer. (buyer shall be responsible for all express shipping and transit insurance charges for returning the product, item or goods)
ii) used items – NO RETURNS available on used products, items or goods unless specified otherwise in the Description.
iii) Special note for instruments on personal interpretation: ‘WTB’ does not accept returns of instruments with personal interpretation “faults” such as low / high action, fret buzz, grain of wood, tightness or angle of a tremolo arm etc. ‘WTB’ inspects, tests, tunes and makes all appropriate adjustments before the despatch any instrument. Each instrument is adjusted appropriately and professionally to the ‘OEM’ published optimum playability setting. However, this is not a finite or conclusive area and opinions will vary. For example: Having a high action on an acoustic although undesirable for some players who play fast widdly music with light gauge strings, maybe ideal for buskers who like to cane their guitars for maximum volume / minimum buzz. Therefore, thorny issues like this do not fall into the category of being not “fit for purpose” and a defect of the instrument (see notes above on 'Care for your instrument')
iv) Special note on amplifiers (general): some guitars especially ones with single coil pickups will “buzz” or “hum” through an amp. This is normal and in fact lead to the development of hum cancelling pickup. Even guitars fitted with hum cancelling pickups (“humbuckers”) will hum through some amps in certain conditions. Most of the time this hum or buzz is a factor of the pickups, wiring or design of the guitar. Other factors that cause hum and buzz: proximity of other electronic devices like PC’s, TV’s Jukeboxes etc; faulty / cheap guitar leads, patch cables and jack sockets.
v) Special note on Valve Amps: valves are an ancient technology and are unfortunately unreliable especially on high gain amplifiers. Most valve amps break down within the 1st year, not all, but most. However, it’s usually fixed by a new set of valves. Valves are consumables and are not covered under any warranty, therefore faults arising from valve failure (which unfortunately is 99% of the faults with valve amps) are not covered under warranty. You are advised to read the instructions very carefully regarding the use of your valve amp as they need great care and attention particularly when turning your valve amp ‘on and off’, and when transporting.
CANCELLATION of you order
You can cancel any order before despatch however we are unable to accept cancellations of orders already despatched, please follow instructions for returns.
DELIVERY
‘WTB’ inspects, and take great care in packing its products, items and goods securely with all product, item and goods, transit insure for the full purchase invoice value; using a specialist insurer. All deliveries are via a tracked courier service to the couriers published delivery dates (buyer accepts and understands that specified delivery dates published by the nominated Courier, are subject to change by the nominated courier at any time following collection from ‘WTB’ and outside of its control). If the buyer is unavailable when the courier attempts to deliver the buyers product, item or goods, the courier may leave an attempted delivery card with instructions of how to rearrange delivery or collect the buyers parcel. A signature may be required upon receipt. It is the buyer’s responsibility to check the consignment to ensure all items in your order have been received as per the description on the purchase invoice/packing note. Buyer must contact ‘WTB’ within 24hrs of delivery by email to advise of missing product or incorrect items have been delivered. Buyer must not use any product or incorrect items that may be required to be returned to ‘WTB’.
DAMAGES (RULE 1 – OPEN THE BOX!)
In the unfortunate event of a product, item or goods arriving damaged, the buyer must contact us with 24 hours of the delivery by email - chasingclassicguitars@gmail.com. to enable ‘WTB’ to advise the transit insurers and the delivery courier. ‘WTB’ cannot accept any responsibility or liability after this period. OPEN THE BOX!
LIABILITY
‘WTB’ liability for losses is strictly limited to the amount paid by the Customer for a Product, item or Service. Neither ‘WTB’ nor any owner, director, employee, affiliate or other representative will be liable for any loss, damage or expense arising out of or in connection with the supply of product or services offered through this web-shop including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss or damage, loss of data, income, profit or opportunity, loss or damage to property and claims by third parties, even if ‘WTB’ has been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage and/or such loss or damage were reasonably foreseeable. The exclusions above and limitations of liability shall not apply in respect of liability in negligence for death or personal injury.
CHANGES TO WEB-SHOP
‘WTB’ may update its web-shop in future and may change the content, description or prices of products, goods and services. Please note that any of the content on the ‘WTB’ web-shop may be out of date at any given time, and is under no obligation to update it. ‘WTB’ does not guarantee that it’s web-shop, or any content on it, will be free from errors or omissions.
APPLICABLE LAW
English law governs these terms of use, its subject matter and its formation. Buyer and ‘WTB’ both agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction.
AMENDMENTS to T&C's
