Ryoji Matsuoka / D-80 / 1980 / Guitar
Greetings,
Todays offering is a very special guitar, all solid construction, which is usually only seen on Japanese guitars at twice this price.
She's in fantastic condition for the year and toward the higher end of the series.
Made by renowned Japanese luthier Ryoji Matsuoka.
Of all the hundreds of fine Japanese guitars we have seen through the shop this has the closest tone to a vintage D-28 out of any of them, and sounds better than a good majority of them!
This is a D-28 replica of the finest quality, so the specs follow the form along with the following:
Solid German Spruce Top
Solid East Indian Rosewood Back And Sides
No restorations
No repairs
Bridge solid and well seated,
Neck angle good
The current setup is toward the lower limit of adjustment as expected at nearly 50 years, with a good low action circa 2.75mm @ 12th fret.
Plays and intonate extremely well, the tone is everything you would expect from a high end dreadnought.
All D-80's are comparatively rare guitars being an 80,000 Yen guitar of the day, which was on average a good few months wages for the average Japanese person in the 1970's.
Today, most 80,000 Yen guitars of the 70's and early 80's are now retailing much higher than our asking price for this Matsuoka.
Don't make my day - buy it!
Over to you,
Enjoy!
