Santa Cruz VA, the new upgraded model. An amazing guitar, it seems like Richard and his Crew have gone through some kind of metamorphoses over the last few years, and with every guitar they make they get better at it. This guitar is breathtaking, light as a feather- never had a guitar in my hands this light, or it must have been some pre-war Old Gibson. I'm a big fan of those VJ an VA models, amazing guitars, the VA is technically a lot like a pre-war D-18 but more advanced with nowadays techniques added that make this a whole different guitar.. not sure what it is but it's sheer magic, possibly also created by the "Feel" of the guitar, which knows no equation. Santa Cruz uses vintage wood that often matured for decades, they meticulously about top-voicing, and detailing, and they refuse to build more than approx. 700 guitars a year. I consider Richard Hoover a dear friend who is after all these many years of guitar-making still passionate about his master-works. There is not a guitar leaving the building that hasn't been checked by him. This one really got to me as you may have noticed, as it really sings like i like them to sing. We only buy selected Santa Cruz guitars, and this is one of 3 magical SCGC guitars that really stood out and we selected last week.

This VA features Selected Honduras Mahogany body, premium matured and highest grade Sitka spruce top, Honduras mahogany neck, Ivoroid bound ebony fingerboard with micro-dot inlays, 43mm (1 11/16") nut width, 645mm(25.375"), 56.5mm ( 2 2/9") Stringspacing at the Bridge. The body is bound in ivoroid with a delicate SCGC zipper back stripe. The top is high grade spruce with ivoroid rosette, herringbone purfling and vintage amber toner that makes this guitar really stand out between the rest, Advanced X scalloped Santa Cruz bracing, Matte and very smooth neck finish, Ivoroid bound grained rosewood headstock peghead, with a mother of Pearl SCGC Logo, open back nickel WAVERLY tuners, bone nut and saddle, ebony bridge, ebony pins with pearl dots. The SCGC VA comes with a very luxurious SCGC hard shell case.

This guitar truly stands out and has an incredible growl with equally strong mids and highs, i'm sure you won't mind the extra's like the Amber top and the Waverly tuners, we think the beauty of the Amber top makes it so darn beautiful that- combined to the low weight and the incredible sound it's incredibly hard to forget about it ever again!
