Selmer / Petite Bouche Django Set Stimer Pickup & Amp / 1948 / Guitar

Behold. A Selmer Petite Bouche from 1948. This oval hole gypsy-jazz guitar might be one of the most influential acoustic guitars that we have had in our shop to date. The legendary Django Reinhardt played Selmer guitars throughout his career, his famous selmer, number #503, is the guitar that he played from 1940 when he got the guitar until his death in 1953. But, less known is that Mr. Reinhardt purchased another Selmer, number #708, in 1948, this specimen, number #753, was produced not much later that year and sold in 1949.  And it is a remarkable guitar. Despite it aged looks with plenty of patina, wear and tear, it's actually in wonderful crack-free condition except for the treble side that shows a patch from a double crack. Otherwise it's in an exceptionally clean, good condition. The arching of the top is still like how it left the factory, which is rather rare, this plays an important role in the characteristic projection of it's unique tone. In my personal opinion it is also one of the most characteristic looking guitar that has come through the shop here, maybe due to the fact that the former owner used beeswax to maintain the guitar.  The frets have been replaced, which makes the playing experience a great one, the A and the B knobs of the tuners have been replaced. Furthermore, the guitar is entirely original; the bridge and tailpiece are original and even the felt of the tailpiece is original. Even the original frets come with the guitar. On top of this being an amazingly impressive guitar, it was purchased as a set with at Stimer pickup and amplifier. Both the pickup and the amplifier are in a good condition. Exactly the set that Django Played. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
