Slingerland 1959 Capri Pearl Outfit :     More info www.rustydrums.co.uk Sizes: 20/14, 12/8, 14/14, 16/16.Shells: 3-ply Mahogany with Solid Maple Reinforcing Rings. Finish: Original Capri Pearl.Details: This kit is a great example of one of the rarer Slingerland drum finishes. These drums are date stamped, but have no serial numbers, only the bass drum has a Slingerland badge. (this is the norm for 50's Slingerlands)All four drums are bright and clean, and the wrap shows hardly any signs of wear. The original Capri Pearl wrap is deep and vivid.The chrome plated hardware is bright and clean, with little or no pin-point pitting.The kick drum wrap its tight, and clean, he colour is true and deep and there is no damage. The inside of the drum is immaculate, and is stamped 'P-040' and the date 'Feb 10, 1959'. The bass drums hoops are original, and have not been re-painted. The inlay is original. The is very minimal pitting on the 'Torpedo' style claws and T-rods.The 12" tom wrap is again bright, tight at the seem and the colour is deep. There is a small amount of de-lamination in the wrap, where the tom has against a snare. (there is no gouging or damage to the wrap) The lugs show no pitting, and the chrome over brass hoops are excellent. Internally again, all original and exceptionally clean, with the same 'P-040' stamp and the date 'Jan 30, 1959'. The tom is fitted with a 'Radio King' style tone control. The 14" floor tom is a later addition. The wrap is again undamaged and tight at the seam. The colour is still clean and bright, again with good depth but has more gold fleck in the finish so appears slightly different to the other drums. It has the original push button leg mounts and legs with very little pitting or surface rust. The interior is again superb but with no stamps. Lugs and hoops are clean and relatively pit free. The slightly later tone control is missing from this drum.The 16" floor tom is in excellent condition and the wrap is again bright, clean and deep in colour. It is also a perfect match with the 12" and kick. The interior is again excellent with the 'P-040' stamp and is dated 'Sep 9, 1959'.it is fitted with push button leg mounts and original straight legs. All fittings have little or no pitting. The tom is fitted with a 'Radio King' style tone control.Heads; The kick has an Aquarian Superkick 2 and an Evans EQ 3 smooth white with Slingerland Logo reso.Toms have new Aquarian American Vintage Thin batters and Classic Clear resos,What We Say:What a stunning looking kit!! And not a finish you see very often in the UK.The shells are in incredible condition and internally with clean original rounded bearing edges.The wrap is extremely clean, vivid and bright.The metal work is all very clean with absolute minimal pitting.The kit sound s great and would make a great addition to any players or collectors set up.
