Spalt / Red Velvet / 2008 / Guitar

Like many others Michael Spalt started working on guitars as a teenager, playing in bands, customizing and modifying. After studying film, photography and painting in San Francisco he went to work in the film business in various capacities. Finally, sometime around 1990, he finally decided to restore his old '64 Gretsch Tenessean. His background in the arts eventually led him to develop the 'resinTop' line of guitars: Totemguitars. The influences manifested in the Totemguitar line go back to Dada, Surrealism, collage and assemblage art, Pop art and sometimes a more conceptual approach, along with the occasional dose of pure kitsch. This Totemguitar series guitar from 2008 bears the name "Red Velvet", an obvious reverence to the smooth velvet-like red finish of the body and the similarly colored dress worn by the pin-up model on the resin top. This model features a Swamp Ash body with burnt finish, comfortable C-shaped birdseye Maple neck with red dot inlays and red nut, Lollar Telecaster single coil pickups, Gotoh vintage style tuner and a compensated Telecaster bridge. The party-piece however is the resin top which contains not only a pin-up model but also a feaux F-hole with rose and a gold ornamentation piece around the 3-way switch. Condition is excellent; it has some angelhair playwear and other signs of use but is overall very clean. Includes original hardshell case, Certificate of authenticity, Spalt T-shirt. ABOUT US

I have always been opposed to being trapped into a job eight hours a day to purchase the free time to do what I enjoy. That’s why i started the Fellowship of Acoustics. The fellowship of acoustics was founded by Rudi Bults, Guitarist and obsessed with tone and wood. The idea was offering real expertise when trading and selling the finest instruments in the world from our showroom in Bergentheim, Netherlands. Helping others find the right tools and enjoying an atmosphere that’s unhurried, honest and informative that’s my go. We are nothing like the "supermarket" style music stores, but specialize in string-things only. We are widely known for Flattop guitars but also sell electric, mandolins & banjo’s, amps, parts, and accessories. Our store has earned the reputation for being a great place to shop for the best products and service.
It is our hope that this new website - much more than a list of "gear" for sale - will serve as an example of our commitment to offering a more personal approach, a friendly atmosphere, and an ultimately more satisfying experience for our friends and customers.
If you have any questions just dial +31-523-232205 or e-mail info@thefellowshipofacoustics.com My name is Rudi Bults, and I’m always here to help out. Wherever possible, we would recommend that you visit our store and experience our instruments and service first hand. However, because of our high standards you can be confident of ordering online from us. We hope you enjoy your visit to our site, and welcome your feedback.
