Spector / NS-2 ** ON HOLD ** / 1986 / Natural / Bass

You all know we get into more than our share of private collections. I mean, two or three times a year, we'll get that call and it's off in the 'Elkmobile to get nose deep into what we always hope will be a cool, clean pile of guitars. And that's what usually happens; we get guitars. Rarely do I get a cool bass or get to stare lovingly at a stack of bass cases. No, for me, it's a banishment into the netherworld of six string fever and the tools of an army of guitarists. Well today, a box arrived and inside was this beautiful NS-2. It hails from the collection of one of the last, great preeminent Spector collectors left and we're always proud to represent one of his pieces. I had a smirk of resolute satisfaction on my face as I opened this case and all Lee could mutter was, "Nice- you get to shoot another bass." The main reason I have such an affinity for these basses is, my old trusty NS-2, #1588 carried me through my seminal years here on the Atlanta rock scene in the late 80's and 90's. That bass was with me when my band opened for Motorhead, Fates Warning, Nuclear Assault, Overkill and Wrathchild America. It was the days of Metal thrashing madness and in all that time, my trusty Spector never once failed me. We would soundcheck before a show and I swear, I'd hit four or five notes and the soundman would say, "Bass is good- love it out here. Now where's your drummer, for Pete's sake." So that's why my love of these instruments is still so strong today- they're great, quality American basses and I'm sure there are thousands of other bassists that feel the same way.

Now to this bass; It has a completion date of 3/21/1986 and comes in a shimmering, flamey and gorgeous natural gloss. It features a 9- volt Hazlab preamp and is in exceptionally fine condition. The case is also in like condition, with no rips or tears. These early Kramer- era Spectors are getting harder to find as each year passes and when it happens to us, it's indeed a bright day! If you have any questions, please call or email Ray because Lee wouldn't know a clean NS-2 if it ran over him with a truck. Besides, he likes Les Pauls and I can't hate him for that.
