Stoll Guitars / IQ / Guitar
IQ’s intelligent design is evident at first glance. Perfect intonation, comfortable playing, stunning sound and modern appearance make this fanned fret guitar unique.
This jumbo steel string guitar features some of the latest trends modern guitar construction has to offer. The most obvious feature are the Fanned Frets. Starting from 8th fret they are positioned fanwise on the fingerboard. Whoever opens up to the unfamiliar arrangement of the frets, will be rewarded with much more relaxed playing. Support is also provided by the ergonomic armrest.
The fun is increased by a small side sound hole, which allows better feedback for the guitarist. At the same time, the audience in front of the guitar gets a finely nuanced sound impression. The Fanned Frets cause an optimal energy yield, with the result of the key note seeming to vibrate with almost endless sustain.
By the extended scale length the bass sounds defined but powerful, the response is quick and accurate. In addition, the Fanned Frets in the highs provide a bit of the round warm tone of a 12-fret guitar. This way, the different frequency ranges are combined to form a charming, harmonious overall picture.
IQ is also a visual pleasure. A streamlined head and an equally asymmetric bridge as well as the unusual form of the side sound hole cleverly pick up the "diagonal" theme. The armrest not only makes the 17 "body look smaller, but also integrates nicely into the overall concept through color contrasting and smooth transitions.
