1968 Supro Corsica S6622
Described in the Supro catalogue as -
“Functional, attractive Reverb and Tremolo amplifier. Smartly styled control panel. Black vinyl cabinet covering. Special Design 12″ Jensen speaker. Separate volume and tone controls, plus reverb intensity and tremolo speed controls. 3 Instrument inputs. independent reverb and tremolo remote foot switch inputs. 6 Tubes – 4 dual purpose for 10 tube performance. Amber glow pilot light. Cabinet size 17 1/2″ long x 23″ high x 8 1/2″ deep. Weight 27lbs.”
This is a great amp. 5 watts through a 12” speaker with both reverb and tremolo making it an ideal recording/home use amp. Looks good to boot.
Supro introduced their final and most distinctive cabinet design for their tube amplifiers around 1966, with black covering and turquoise faceplate. Built by Valco, as were many great budget valve amps of the period, the amp has a distinctive tone that definitely speaks of a certain time. It has a wonderful chime with an element of grittiness when required. The various inputs also add colour.
The tolex is in good condition as is the faceplate. Some of the silkscreening has been worn but overall this amp is in great condition.
The reverb tank has been changed as the original had disintegrated.
Elsewhere everything else looks correct and is fully working.
Great amp ideal for anyone looking for a rootsy tone and looking for something different.
