Supro / Jet Airliner Lap Steel / 1964 / Black/White / Guitar For Sale
If you were raised in the '60s and your mom drove a green and faux wood Dodge Monaco station wagon, then you know the sound of a lap steel. To my memory, almost every Country song on the radio either started with or had a lap steel solo in it, so some 57 years later, the "duh duh yuh" slide that comes right after Tammy Wynette belts out, "Stand by your man," is still burned into my brain. Some things never leave the mind no matter how many years go by...
This tidy little Supro is more fun to play than a barrel of monkeys. I tried to get the aforementioned sound out of it, but a steel player I am not. It's a complete an cool package that includes the lap, original case, fingerpicks and slide bar so it will be plug and play upon arrival. It shows some light signs of being used over the years, but it's been very well taken care of. We threw on a new set of GHS strings, so now she sings like a bird.
The question that needs to be asked is, how in the heck did this lap steel make it out of the Supro factory with the headstock badge mounted upside down? Seems like one of the great mysteries of life to me...
