Tokai / TE70 Breezysound / 1985 / Sunburst / Guitar
So much part of the lawsuit era, Tokai’s mainstream efforts in the 1980's really shook things up across the Pacific and put the Land of the Rising Sun on the guitar map. This example, from the mid 80s, really showcases the level to which they achieved this notoriety.
This guitar is in great shape, new MINT. Bought from the original owner, the guitar has been well cared for and though there are a few minor dinks and knocks the guitar is in remarkable condition.
The neck too is in stunning shape with plenty of life left in the original frets. The signature on the back of the headstock is that of tele-master Jerry Donahue. There is very little signs of wear anywhere on the neck and the decal is still in great shape.
Hardware is a little tarnished as you’d expect but is not corroded.
Electrically everything looks correct. When we received the guitar it was fitted with a different set of pickups, the original included in the case. These have now been returned to the guitar.
The guitar comes with its correct hardshell case.
Tokai’s reputation during this period is clearly evident when you pick this guitar up. They captured the magic and the tone without any of the spikyness that can so often plague these guitars.
The catalyst for the reinvigoration of so much of the slumbering US guitar market in the 80’s, this guitar is a must have if you're looking for that vintage tone without the price tag. Grab it before it gets away..
